Hi,

If you use omf, this parameter shows you the location that your datafiles are located if you
don’t mention about datafile path in the create tablespace clause.
for example:

SQL> CREATE TABLESPACE tbs1 DATAFILE SIZE 10M AUTOEXTEND OFF;

SQL > show parameter db_create_file_dest

db_create_file_dest string
+DATA1

In this example, we use ASM and our default omf location is +DATA1
it can be c:\data in a different FS. It’s not related with ASM.

But if db_create_file_dest parameter value is null and you do not use datafile path
in create tablespace clause an error raised:

SQL> CREATE TABLESPACE tbs2 DATAFILE SIZE 10M AUTOEXTEND OFF;

CREATE TABLESPACE tbs2 DATAFILE SIZE 10M AUTOEXTEND OFF

*

ERROR at line 1:

ORA-02236: invalid file name

try and pray 🙂
