HOW DO I REMOVE HOME GROUP AND LIBRARIES ICONS FROM DESKTOP

To remove the Homegroup and Libraries icons from your desktop:

start-->run-->regedit

navigate to:

Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Desktop\NameSpace\

To remove homegroup icon on desktop rename folder

{B4FB3F98-C1EA-428d-A78A-D1F5659CBA93}

to

_{B4FB3F98-C1EA-428d-A78A-D1F5659CBA93}

To remove “Libraries” icon on desktop rename folder

{031E4825-7B94-4dc3-B131-E946B44C8DD5}

to

_{031E4825-7B94-4dc3-B131-E946B44C8DD5}

Go to your desktop and hit F5, the icons should disappear. Libraries and Homegroup have retained their full functionality as far as I can tell, so it hasn’t appeared to have affected the programs at all.

    Thanks for that, it just appeared out of thin air today and annoyed the hell out of me. I try to keep a tidy desktop so this helped. Thanks again
